Hello, I'm Paulius Šliaupa.
Paulius Šliaupa (b. 1990, Vilnius) is a contemporary artist whose interdisciplinary practice combines painting, video art, and installation. Currently based in Brussels, the artist remains active in the Lithuanian art scene, integrating international contexts into local discourse. His creative identity is shaped by a constant movement between different geographical and cultural poles, blending a global perspective with local roots. Artistic Practice The core of his work is a layering technique used to visually document ephemeral natural phenomena, such as the flow of water, the texture of snow, or the shifting light of diurnal cycles. Šliaupa’s practice is closely linked to geology, an influence from his upbringing in a family of geologists. This has informed his specific sensitivity toward organic structures and terrestrial processes, which were most recently presented in his 2026 solo exhibition "The watchful ground" at Meno Niša Gallery. His works analyze not only the aesthetic form of nature but also the sensory relationship between the individual, the environment, and elements of poetic absurdity. Education and Professional Activity The artist earned a Bachelor’s degree in Painting and a Master’s degree in Contemporary Sculpture from the Vilnius Academy of Arts, followed by a Master’s degree in Media Arts from KASK & Conservatory (Ghent, Belgium). Šliaupa has expanded his professional experience through international residencies in Paris, Reykjavik, and Hanoi. His work has been exhibited at major institutions both in Lithuania and abroad.
