Hello, I'm Ivona Tau.
New media artist from Vilnius, Lithuania, who works with neural networks and code in experimental photography and moving image. I create universally relatable memories by transforming my experiences captured on analog and digital film using tools such as generative neural networks (GANs) and other custom AI models. Central to my practice is working exclusively with my own photographic data or open source datasets, which allows me to craft bespoke AI models tailored to my vision rather than relying on commercial third party tools. My work exists at the intersection of art and technology, drawing on over 15 years of combined experience in professional photography and AI research. I was awarded the Best Award in the Digital Ars 2020 contest for art created with AI, received the Computer Animation category award at the Computer Space International Computer Art Forum 2021, and was selected as one of the Top 10 Women in AI 2022 by the Women in Tech Foundation. I was also nominated for the ABS Art Prize, Digital Art Awards, and the Lumen Prize in 2025. My work has been exhibited widely, including at Art Basel Miami Beach, UNTITLED Art Fair, SCOPE, CAFA, Art Week Shenzhen, Vellum, Bitforms New York, Venus Over Manhattan, Ars Electronica Garden, The House of Fine Art, Bright Moments Berlin, Christie’s New York, and Sotheby’s New York. My work has been acquired by the ZKM Museum of Contemporary Art in Germany and the Francisco Carolinum Linz in Austria. I am active in the research community and hold a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the Polish Japanese Academy of Information Technology. I have published multiple scientific papers in the field of Computer Vision and Artificial Neural Networks. I am currently represented by MTArt Agency.
